By Pritha Nag,

I’ve always loved organization, stationary and writing, which is one of the main reasons I got so

into bullet journaling. Bullet journaling is more or less a journal of your everyday life, for example

you keep track of your mood, your habits, your schedule and your everyday. I’ve been bullet

journaling for almost a year now, and I feel like it’s helped my mental health so much!

So, how exactly has it helped my mental health?

It’s been said a lot, but staying organized and staying on top of your assignments can be so great. Your mind will feel clearer and more organized with having written (or typed) all of your upcoming events/assignments, in contrast to having to remember it off the top of your head. This has helped me so much with feeling so organized, especially at the start of the week, I’ll just write down all of my pending

events/assignments and I’ll feel so much calmer and organized for the following week.

Many people think that your bullet journal needs to be heavily filled with doodles and several

different colours, but this isn’t true! Your journal can be as simple as a little to-do list for the day,

or a messy page with all of your scribbled out thoughts! Everyone has different things that work

for them, so if you do want to start to journal have an open mind, because it may take you a

while to find out what works for you and what doesn’t.

Make your bullet journal efficient over aesthetic! It doesn’t matter if your bullet journal isn’t

beautiful, or filled with the most gorgeous drawings, as long as it works for you then that's all

that really matters! If adding some extra doodles, adding themes works for you, then so be it!

But don’t feel pressured to have the most aesthetic pinterest bullet journal, all it has to be is

efficient.

If paper doesn't work for you, switch to digital! There are many different apps and online

resources that can also help you to feel more organized. (I’ve left a couple linked at the end of

this post!) Bullet journaling is different for everyone, so if you’d rather be digital, because it may

be easier, more efficient and less effort then switch to digital. Essentially because we are also

growing up in the digital age, bullet journalling online won’t be such a new concept, and in a few

years maybe a bit more of a normalized concept.

Pro tip: If you have an iPad, you can even digitally draw out your bullet journal if you prefer

digital art. You can use the app ProCreate to digitally create your own bullet journal!

My final and probably one of the most helpful for some people, there are ready-made planners!

Ready-made planners aren’t essentially the same thing as a bullet journal but some leave a lot

of room for you to add your own twist. Several of them also come undated so you can pick up

whenever you would like! Most of them include a monthly spread, maybe a few columns for your

daily to-do and the best part a couple blank pages! These ready-made planners may just be the

ones for you, because they leave some room for your own twist, but also if you are very busy or

don’t feel like you would like to commit to bullet journaling these are amazing. (I’ve also linked

down below some ready-made planners!)

I hope that this post has helped you to decide if you’d like to bullet journal in case you’ve been

on the fence about it for a while. I’d totally recommend it, if you are looking to be more

organized, feel calmer and for a positive impact onto your mental health! If you are looking for

different styles of bullet journaling I’ve put some pictures below of mine and a couple of my

friends!

*I have only tried out Trello, but done some research and these are the best ones based on

others opinions!
