“The road to self-love goes through self-hate”
When you wake up in the morning and look at yourself in the mirror, you notice all your curves and edges,
the pimple that has been there for a week, the birthmark you will never fall in love with, the scar left on your knee from that one day playing in the sun with your friends when you were 5.
At that moment you notice the things that you hate most about yourself, you look away. Distract yourself, because looking in the mirror, noticing the flaws you’ve created in your head, makes you hate who you are
You compare yourself to others. Notice how their hair is perfect, her skin is flawless. You wonder why you couldn’t look like that. You avoid all chances to look at yourself, to avoid the thought that you aren’t who you want to be.
At the end of the day, you are back where you started, looking at yourself in the mirror noticing that pimple, that scar, and that mark. But there will come a day when that pimple doesn’t mean anything to you, that birth becomes a part of who you are, and that scar will remind you of the day you spent running around in the sun.
You will get there, there is a process to fall in love.
It takes time, belief, patience, and forgiveness.
It takes acceptance to be unapologetically yourself.
You will get there.
You will fall in love with yourself.
